Berakas Secondary School (SMB) held the ‘STEAM SMB: Inspiring the Next Generation’ event at its hall yesterday with the objective of showcasing students’ creativity in science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM).
Director of Department of Schools Hajah Marina Chek binti Bujang was the guest of honour.
The event featured 19 STEAM-themed exhibits by students and their teachers, which are in line with Brunei Vision 2035 and United Nations Sustainable Development Goals initiatives.
SMB principal Alexander Bandang in a speech said the exhibition’s motivation provided a platform for innovative students to showcase their projects through competitions such as the Crown Prince Creative, the Innovative Product and Technological Advancement (CIPTA) Award, the Brunei Info-Communications Technology Awards (BICTA), the Young Inventors Challenge, Energy Globe Awards and the REAL Learnings STEM.
Hajah Marina Chek, meanwhile expressed her full support for SMB’s initiative and hoped it would inspire other schools to delve further into STEAM-related activities. – Rokiah Mahmud
