Stay disciplined during haj, says State Mufti

Muslims embarking on the haj pilgrimage should refrain from committing sinful acts, argue and engage in sexual intercourse as it may ruin their sacred journey, said State Mufti Pehin Datu Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia (Dr) Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned.

The state mufti said every pilgrim must be disciplined and follow the three obligations.

He said arguments are common between congregations, friends, siblings, spouses and between the pilgrims and managers.

“Perhaps people do not realise when this happens, it risks ruining the haj,” added the state mufti.

This year, over 1,000 intending haj pilgrims from the Sultanate will be travelling to Madinah and Makkah from June 4 to 7.

The State Mufti’s Office held a Doa Kesyukuran ceremony for five intending haj pilgrims from the State Mufti’s Office yesterday, to seek blessings from Allah the Almighty, a smooth journey and good health throughout the pilgrimage.

Meanwhile, yesterday, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) held a Doa Selamat ceremony for five officers and staff from the PMO who are set to perform the haj pilgrimage.

Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Defence II Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General (Rtd) Dato Paduka Seri Haji Awang Halbi bin Haji Mohd Yussof was the guest of honour.

During the event, donations from PMO officers and staff were also presented to the intending pilgrims.

Also in attendance were Deputy Minister (Civil Service Governance) at the PMO Dato Seri Paduka Mohd Riza bin Dato Paduka Haji Mohd Yunos and other senior officers.

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) also held a similar ceremony yesterday at the ministry.

Minister of Home Affairs Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman was the guest of honour.

The event saw a talk on Ibadah Haji Antara Syariat Islam Yang Memerlukan Pengorbanan from an invited speaker and a handover of donations to 13 intending pilgrims from the MoHA.
