State medal recipients express gratitude, vow to maintaining excellence

Recipients of state honorary medals expressed their appreciation and gratitude during the conferment ceremony held at Istana Nurul Iman yesterday, in conjunction with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam’s 78th birthday celebration.

Recipient Hajah Zannatul ‘Aini binti Haji Zainin has served the government for 26 years. She said the Most Blessed Order of Setia Negara Brunei 4th Class (PSB) medal has motivated her to further excel in her role as the director of the Department of Pharmaceutical Services. She believes it will motivate her to work harder, especially since her role affects the health of the community directly.

Similarly, veterinary officer at Istana Nurul Iman Dr Siva Nathan T Pushpanathan, who has been working in the Sultanate for 24 years, conveyed his appreciation to His Majesty for the state decoration.

He said he was initially surprised by the news but is now very happy, describing the occasion as memorable.

Assistant work officer at His Majesty’s Office (HMO) Haji Sahrin bin Haji Asmat also expressed his gratitude for receiving the PSB medal.

He said the honorary medal serves as recognition that motivates him personally. Hajah Masniah binti Haji Othman, a 70-year-old nursing assistant at Istana Nurul Izzah, received the PSB medal. She believes the recognition will drive her to work harder to deliver her best service.

Haji Haris bin Haji Suboh, a 51-year-old mosque affairs officer, received the Most Eminent Order of Islam Brunei 5th Class (PUB).

He conveyed his gratitude to Allah the Almighty and thanked His Majesty for bestowing him with the medal.

With the conferment of the PUB medal, he is now motivated to strive for more while remaining committed to his role.

Having worked for the government for about 24, starting as a religious officer at various mosques and now serving as Mosque Affairs Officer Special Grade at Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, he advised civil servants to commit to their work, be responsible, trustworthy and to follow orders and instructions diligently.

He also emphasised on the importance of continuously seeking knowledge, enhancing skills and staying motivated to perform their duties well. – Rokiah Mahmud
