Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohd Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan highlighted that the Youth Al-Quran Reading Scheme (STAR) has produced skilled Al-Quran readers, some who have participated in national and international competitions.
The deputy minister said the STAR scheme had nurtured the teens and guided them with the Tarannum from the age of 12 to 18, under the coordination of the Islamic Studies Department since 1997.
He also said the MABIMS Centre for Al-Quran Studies and Dissemination had organised the Tarannum Al-Quran Course in 2017, 2018 and 2019. He said the launch of the Tarannum Al-Quran Intermediate Course serves as a continuation of learning for graduates of the STAR scheme.
The deputy minister also added that the initiatives would introduce an advanced course featuring modules and programmes with intensive training including inviting well-known international Al-Quran readers. Skilled vocal instructors will be invited to train participants in vocal arts, he said.
The deputy minister lauded the centre’s efforts in producing more skilled Al-Quran readers, in line with the ministry’s efforts to cultivate new talents among youth, especially in Tarannum, to shine in national and international stages. – Rokiah Mahmud
