Stadium comes alive

The Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas came alive last night as football fans cheered during the second-round match against Indonesia in the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers and the first round of the Asian Football Confederation (AFC).

Over 17,000 football fans packed the stadium during the international match-up.

Indonesian and Bruneian flags draped the stands as fans sang and cheered for their teams.

“It has been a while since we had an atmosphere like this,” said Mazizul, who was there with his family. He added, “We hope Brunei will take the win.”

Meanwhile, Ahmad Faizin, an Indonesian national working in Brunei, expressed his excitement over the opportunity to welcome and root for his national team. – Adib Noor
