COLOMBO (XINHUA) – Tourist arrivals to Sri Lanka passed 200,000 in December, the highest number for a month during the last four years, Tourism Minister Harin Fernando said on Saturday.
The minister said on X, formerly known as Twitter, that the country will almost reach the annual target of 1.5 million arrivals in 2023.
Tourism is one of Sri Lanka’s top foreign revenue generators. The government waived visa fees for nationals from China, India, Indonesia, Russia, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan recently to boost tourism in the coming season.
