Duli Pengiran Muda Al-Muhtadee Billah College (Maktab Duli) held a Climate Change Awareness Day at Student Learning Centre (SLSC) recently.
The event was organised by the Geography Department in collaboration with Maktab Duli’s library.
Maktab Duli Principal Dayangku Hajah Nooramaliatifah binti Pengiran Haji Ahmad officiated the event.
Deputy Principal of Administration Dayangku Zalina binti Pengiran Haji Aliuddin, Deputy Principal of Academics Dr Zamri bin Haji Ismail and the college’s administration team were also present.
Climate Change Awareness Day was the highlight of a climate change programme organised by the college since the middle of 2022.
Tutor from the Islamic Studies Department Royzime bin Alias blessed the event with a Doa followed by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by the principal.
It continued with the launch of Maktab Duli Climate Change Initiative Instagram account and a group photo with the organising committee.
The event saw a mini-exhibition on the climate change initiative featuring posters on issues, actions taken and stakeholders’ roles.
A video presentation encouraged students to work for a more sustainable future and to take action.
The students also wrote pledges on post-it notes to be displayed at the SLSC.
The event concluded with a tree-planting activity headed by the principal.
