The Department of Councils of State attended the 13th ASEAN Inter-Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA) Caucus that focussed on the implementation of resolutions of the 42nd AIPA General Assembly approved last year and the ‘Cooperation on the Digital Economy in ASEAN in the Post COVID-19’ issue, at the Legislative Council Building yesterday.

The assembly hosted virtually by the National Assembly of Thailand was attended by 10 AIPA member countries, including Brunei Darussalam.

The Sultanate attended the meeting as an observer and was represented by Secretary to the Cabinet Minister’s Meeting and Clerk to the Legislative Council Pehin Orang Kaya Pekerma Jaya Dato Paduka Haji Judin bin Haji Asar.

Also present was incoming AIPA Secretary General Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman.

AIPA supports the ASEAN implementation by following the direction plan of the second phase of the Bandar Seri Begawan Roadmap for economic recovery through a digital transformation to speed up digital economic plan for 2022-2025.

AIPA Caucus agreed unanimously on the official report of the 13th AIPA Caucus meeting and the report will be further discussed for approval during the 43rd general assembly, which will be hosted by the National Assembly of Cambodia in November.
