The Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) Hari Bakarih Yayasan (HBY 2024) was officially launched yesterday by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, in his capacity as a Member of the Yayaysan Board of Directors and Chairman of the Yayasan Aid Review Committee.

The ceremony, at the Yayasan Complex in the capital, marked the start of the event, which will run until December 1 from 3pm to 9pm daily. HBY 2024 serves as a business platform for 17 Bakarih Yayasan entrepreneurs, nurtured under the Yayasan Welfare Funding Scheme, to showcase and sell their products.

Visitors can enjoy a range of activities such as a fun fair, archery, amazing race, face painting, henna painting, eating competition, mini Lego-making competition, teh tarik-making competition, colouring contests, and a blood donation drive. Part of the proceeds from the fun fair will be donated to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA).

Strategic partners, including JAPEM Entrepreneurship, Konsortium Muallafpreneurs, PROPAZ and Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Special Entrepreneurial Empowerment and Development Scheme (BIBD SEED), are also participating alongside other entrepreneurs supported by YSHHB programmes.

This is the third installment of HBY, an initiative aimed at supporting local entrepreneurs by providing a platform to enhance their business portfolios and expand product marketing networks.

The initiative aligns with Yayasan’s Strategic Goals of fostering self-sufficiency, empowering entrepreneurs from target groups to improve livelihoods and family standards through entrepreneurship programmes. – Lyna Mohamad
