Sportsfest attracts hundreds

Hundreds of students and adults embedded in house colours were visibly in high spirits as the week-long Sportsfest 2023 organised by Seri Mulia Sarjana School came to a thrilling conclusion at the Track and Field of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex yesterday.

Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education Department at the Ministry of Education Julaihi bin Haji Mohamad/Mohamat was the guest of honour.

The ceremony officially kicked off with the recitation of doa to bless the occasion before the parade and cheering competition commenced.

Prior to yesterday’s event, the tough challenge but constructive and character-building Sportsfest 2023 officially began with an opening ceremony at the respective primary and secondary campuses.

The Sportsfest was held to develop sportsmanship, teamwork, and camaraderie, and showing sportsmanship rooted in respect.

The festival featured a line-up of diverse range of sports including badminton, basketball, futsal, dodgeball, netball, swimming, tug-of-war, obstacle course, billiards, chess, and running competitions.

The competitions provided the students an opportunity to play the games they are passionate about while staying physically fit. Vying for the most coveted overall champion title, the four teams namely- Red Lion, Yellow Eagle, Green Komodo and Blue Shark- featured a sense of competition while remaining rooted in the Sarjana values of respect, initiative, global responsibility, honour and teamwork.

Blue Shark and Red Lion emerged overall winners in the primary and secondary section.

The biennial Sportsfest remains a key event in the school’s calendar to help develop students’ competitive character and determination to excel.

It also created an avenue to nurture a child’s prowess in different types of sports and gave them the opportunity to experience a wide array of physically fun learning journey. – Fadhil Yunus
