The Royal Brunei Airlines (RB) completed a series of community support events including the handover of donations to orphans, Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and RB Family in Need, organised by the airline’s welfare and religious committees.
The series of events began with a sungkai distribution to RB staff and stakeholders at the Brunei International Airport on March 20, followed by the recitation of Surah Yaasiin and Tahlil for Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam and Al-Marhumah Duli Raja Isteri Pengiran Anak Damit binti Al-Marhum Pengiran Bendahara Pengiran Anak Abdul Rahman, the late parents of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang
Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, and for His Majesty’s late son Al-Marhum His Royal Highness Prince Haji ‘Abdul ‘Azim at the Royal Mausoleum in Jalan Tutong on March 25.
Minister of Development Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Muhammad Juanda bin Haji Abdul Rashid as RB Chairman, RB management and staff was joined by the airport’s surau imam Haji Mohd Ashraf bin Haji Bujang, who led the recitation.
RB, alongside Sabre Travel Network Brunei, held an iftar with orphans of former RB employees at Tarindak D’Seni, followed by the presentation of donations by RB Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Captain Sabirin bin Haji Abdul Hamid and Sabre General Manager Abdul Halim bin Haji Abdul Rahman to 42 recipients on March 26.
The committee also organised the RB Family in Need initiative, aimed at supporting current and former staff members facing hardship. Captain Sabirin and RB’s executive, management team led the distribution of the items to 15 recipients.
Throughout the month, RB also participated in an eco-Ramadhan campaign organised by the Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation (JASTRe) where RB staff distributed 200 reusable shopping bags to show the airline’s support for sustainable consumer practices.
“This Ramadhan, we embraced the opportunity to extend our support and compassion to those in need, reinforcing the values that lie at the heart of our community. I am very proud of our team for their participation in these noble efforts,” said the RB CEO.
HiTUNE Universal Services
HiTUNE Universal Services held a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony and presented donations to 10 orphans at Maszalina Cheenta Hall, The Walk, Beribi yesterday.
The event marked the completion of the company’s initiative to recite Al-Quran and perform charity during the holy month of Ramadhan.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Religious Affairs Haji Mohammad Rosli bin Haji Ibrahim was the guest of honour. The event also saw the recitation of Takhtim, Doa Khatam and Dikir Marhaban by Husna Hurulain Tausyeh Group.
The donation aimed at providing assistance to orphans ahead of the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
The event concluded with a mass Maghrib prayer and an iftar. – Azlan Othman
Royal Brunei Culinary
Royal Brunei Culinary (RBC) organised a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony on April 3 to mark the closing of Tedarus Al-Quran at Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque in Kampong Manggis/Madang.
RBC Board of Directors’ Chairman Haji Sofian bin Haji Mohammad Jani and Deputy Chairman Haji Mohammad Yusree bin Haji Junaidi as well as Darussalam Assets Sdn Bhd representative, RBC management and staff, differently-abled children of RBC staff and the mosque’s congregants were in attendance.
The ceremony began with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah led by Razman bin Haji Ramli, followed by the recitation of verses of Al-Quran verses and Doa Khatam.
RBC’s chairman and deputy chairman presented donations to 12 differently-abled children, one orphan and 20 single mothers to support them in their preparations for the upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri festivities.
Baiduri Bank
Forty families from the Brunei-Muara District joined the final instalment of the eighth edition of Baiduri Bank’s ‘Let’s Give Back This Ramadhan’ initiative yesterday.
The families, identified by the bank’s strategic partner, the Council for the Welfare of Persons with Different Abilities (MKOKU), enjoyed an afternoon of shopping at Hua Ho Manggis and Hua Ho Yayasan, and iftar in the evening.
MKOKU President Malai Didi @ Sharifah Adila Surya binti Malai Haji Abdullah said, “The initiative ensured the families under the council have a happier Hari Raya Aidilfitri and increases the awareness on persons with different abilities.
“This year’s initiative began on World Down Syndrome Day and concluded with World Autism Awareness Day.”
Baiduri Bank Chief Executive Officer Ti Eng Hui said, “Awareness is the first step towards empathy, and once we start understanding each other better, we can collaborate more effectively to build a safer, more inclusive society.”
Baiduri Bank’s Head of Group Human Resources and Administration Division and management committee for the event at Hua Ho Yayasan Veronica Chong was
also present.
Al-Muyassar Group
The Al-Muyassar Group (AMG) distributed some 400 food packs and 120 drinks to mosques in the Brunei-Muara District.
The initiative was part of its annual ‘Ramadhan Berbagi Bersama AMG’ programme in the month of Ramadhan.
The donations were contributed by students, family members and AMG members.
Some 200 food packs were distributed on March 22: 80 to RPN Kampong Lambak Kanan Mosque, 60 to Universiti Brunei Darussalam Mosque and 60 to Al-Ameerah Al-Hajjah Maryam Mosque in Kampong Jerudong. The remaining 200 food packs were distributed on March 29, with 80 to Jame’ ‘Asr Hassanil Bolkiah, 60 to Ash-Shaliheen Mosque and 60 to Kampong Salambigar Mosque.
The group also distributed 120 drinks to Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Mosque on April 5.
