Spine-chilling fun

(ANN/THE KOREA HERALD) – As you stroll along the bustling streets of Hongdae, in Seoul the epicentre of Korea’s vibrant youth culture, a large banner beckons you towards an unmissable experience: the Ito Junji Horror House. This immersive exhibition showcases the spine-chilling works of Junji Ito, one of Japan’s most renowned horror manga artists.

The highlight of the exhibition is an interactive haunted house experience that plunges visitors into the eerie worlds created by Ito. Groups of 6 to 10 people navigate a pitch-dark exhibition space, clutching a rope as their only guide through the darkness.

This 15-minute journey is designed to send shivers down your spine as you encounter real-life recreations of iconic scenes from Ito’s most famous works, including “Tomie,” “The Groaning Drain,” and “Long Hair in the Attic.”

To heighten the terror, six actors dressed as characters from Ito’s manga roam the haunted house, bringing the terrifying illustrations to life. The interactive zone is filled with unexpected scares and eerie atmospheres that keep visitors on edge.

For those who find the experience too intense, strategically placed early exit buttons allow for a quick escape, with staff ready to guide you out.
