Specialised equipment for students, schools

The Ministry of Education (MoE), through the Department of Special Education, yesterday held a handover of specialised equipment and learning resources for students in a ceremony at Keriam Primary School.

The donation, which included tablets, laptops, wheelchairs, electric wheelchairs, trampolines and learning resources, aimed to help students with special needs in their learning and mobility.

Acting Head of the Special Education Unit at the Department of Special Education Eddy Fazlin bin Haji Amdan witnessed the handover.

Thirteen special needs students from Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Science College, Menglait Secondary School, Sayyidina Hasan Secondary School, Sayyidina ‘Othman Secondary School, Sultan Sharif Ali Secondary School, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Primary School, Pengiran Setia Negara Pengiran Mohd Yusof Primary School, Pusar Ulak Primary School, Rataie Primary School and Seri Mulia Sarjana School received the donation presented by Jerudong International School (JIS) Junior School students.

Additionally, eight schools – Menglait Secondary School, Awang Haji Mohd Yusof Primary School in Katimahar, Keriam Primary School, Muhammad Alam Primary School, Panglima Barudin Primary School in Limau Manis, Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Primary School, Penapar Primary School and Pengkalan Batu Primary School – also received similar contributions.

JIS Head of Junior School Paul Bannister and JIS students, school leaders, teachers, as well as officials from the MoE, parents and guardians also attended. The handover ceremony has been an ongoing collaborative effort between the Department of Special Education and JIS Junior School since 2002.
