Ukhuwwah Fillah from Paduka Seri Begawan Sultan Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien (SOAS) Religious School won in the boys category in a Dikir Syarafil Anam contest held on Thursday to enliven the 78th birthday celebration of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam.
Az Zahrah from Pengiran Anak Puteri Rashidah Sa’adatul Bolkiah Religious School and Sautul Ahlam from the Belait Arabic School (SAB) were placed second and third.
In the girls category, Nisaaun Hamra from SAB came in first, followed by Wasiqa Yumna from Sungai Tali Religious School and Nawwarah from Paduka Seri Begawan SOAS Religious School in second and third places. Some 32 students in eight groups from religious schools across the Belait District competed in separate boys and girls categories, each comprising four groups, on Thursday at the nightly festive stage in the middle of the Festive Stalls at the Tudong Saji, Kuala Belait.
Head of the Dakwah Unit in the Belait District Muskrisman Safari bin Haji Mustapa presented the prize to the winning group. – Daniel Lim
