SMJA students win Khutbah competition

Muhammad Aiman Mustaqim bin Mohammad Zularifen and Muhammad Adhwa Darweesh bin Md Basuni from Sultan Muhammad Jamalul Alam Secondary School (SMJA) emerged the first place winner yesterday in the final of the 2023 Khutbah (Friday Sermon) Competition among secondary schools nationwide with a score of 88.5 per cent.

Meanwhile Abdul Hadi Muaiyyad bin Haji Azrol and Mohammad Darul Irsyad bin Mohammad Jeffery from Institut Tahfiz Al-Quran Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (ITQSHHB) clinched the second spot with a score of 83.5 per cent.

Alif Hakimi bin Rosli and Mohd Izzudieen bin Haji Yusdi from SMJA scored 83.5 per cent.

ITQSHHB students Mohammad Rif’at Razin bin Md Khairul Azmi and Muhammad Ishqal Ezairy @ Abdul Mateen bin Muhammad Shahruni came in fourth with 83 per cent.

The Ministry of Education (MoE) through the Spiritual Activities Division, Department of Co-Curriculum Education held the final at the Suri Seri Begawan Raja Pengiran Anak Damit Mosque, Kampong Madang.

Acting Director of Co-Curriculum Education Department Julaihi bin Haji Mohamad/Mohamat presented the prizes.

The competition was open to students from government and private secondary schools as well as schools under the jurisdiction of the Department of Islamic Studies, Ministry of Religious Affairs.

Some 17 groups, with two students per group, participated, with four in the final.

Participants gave it their all during the finals of the nationwide Khutbah Competition for Secondary Schools 2023 yesterday. Four out of 17 groups made it to the last stage of the competition. PHOTO: AZLAN OTHMAN
