An individual was fined BND200 for throwing away used cigarette butts on a public premise by the Kuala Belait and Seria Municipal Board yesterday.
The fine was issued under Chapter 30 of the Miscellaneous Offences Act.
The individual was given seven days to settle the fine. Failing to do so will result in the matter being brought to court.
If found guilty, the accused will be handed a further BND1,000 fine or one-month imprisonment, while subsequent offences will result in a BND3,000 fine or imprisonment not exceeding three months.
