Authorities have uncovered a number of labour violations during a recent operation at Kampong Jangsak and Kampong Sengkurong.
Seven offences under the Employment Order 2009 were detected in Kampong Sengkurong during the operation.
An employer was found to not have offered a written service contract to workers, made employees work past prescribed working hours, failed to give off days during public holidays, failed to give annual and sick leave and failed to provide emergency aid. The employer was also found to be employing three foreign workers licensed to be labourers as cashiers.
Meanwhile, one offence was recorded in Kampong Jangsak where an employer was harbouring a foreign worker without authorisation from the Labour Department. – Azlan Othman
