TOKYO (ANN/THE YOMIURI SHIMBUN) – In a startling incident on an All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight bound for Seattle, Tokyo police have apprehended a 55-year-old American passenger for allegedly biting the arm of a cabin attendant.
The arrest was made on Tuesday night, following the departure of the ANA aircraft from Haneda Airport.
The passenger, claiming to have consumed sleeping pills, professed no recollection of the incident, according to police sources.
The flight returned to Haneda in the early hours of Wednesday after the incident prompted the captain to make a U-turn over the Pacific. The crew handed the man over to police.
