KATHMANDU (XINHUA) – Three houses were swept away by a landslide in central Nepal early yesterday morning, leaving six people dead and four others missing.
Another person was injured in the disaster sparked by hours-long torrential rain in Shailung Rural Municipality of Ramechhap district at around 3am local
time. “Our team is searching for the missing people,” spokesperson for the district police Kaushal Neupane, told Xinhua.
A bridge over a local stream was swept away by floods, making commuting with other parts of the district difficult, he said. Monsoon rain-related disasters had left 195 people dead, 247 wounded and 49 others missing as of Friday, according to Nepal Police.
