Two cases are in Category 5 requiring treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) while four cases are in Category 4 requiring respiratory assistance and under close monitoring as of yesterday. No COVID-19 fatalities were recorded during the past 24 hours.

Similar to the previous week, over 99 per cent of cases detected within the past week have been categorised in Category 1 or 2, without requiring hospital treatment.

These details were shared by Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar at the weekly COVID-19 press conference yesterday.

The minister also revealed that Brunei Darussalam yesterday registered 1,185 new cases with 1,173 detected from ART results while 12 resulted from 361 RT-PCR laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.

As of Saturday, the COVID-19 vaccination coverage in the Sultanate continued to increase where 72.8 per cent of the country’s citizens and residents have received the third dose and 12.1 per cent receiving the fourth dose.

Meanwhile 73.6 per cent of children aged five to 11 have received the second dose of the COVID-19 vaccination while only 49.4 per cent of adolescents aged 12 and 17 have received the third dose.

Acting Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Health Dr Ang Swee Hui was also present at the press conference.
