SINGAPORE (XINHUA) – Singapore’s manufacturing production increased 2.9 per cent year-on-year in May, following the 1.2-per-cent contraction in April, according to data released by the Economic Development Board yesterday.
Output of the electronic sector expanded 20.1 per cent year-on-year in May. The chemicals and transport engineering production grew 7.9 per cent and 7.8 per cent.
Meanwhile, the biomedical manufacturing output contracted 42.6 per cent year-on-year in May due to a 67.2-per-cent decline in the pharmaceuticals segment.
