Singapore’s Kampung Buangkok eye top three finish in Brunei Futsal League

Singapore-based club Kampung Buangkok are aiming a top three finish in the upcoming Brunei Futsal League 2024 scheduled to kick off from August 2024 to February 2025.

The invited club will be the first from Singapore to play both in the Brunei Futsal League and an overseas league.

Their participation was made possible through the support of the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS).

The inclusion of the Singaporean outfit will help enhance the competitiveness and quality of the league while also strengthening the relationship between both football governing bodies.

Kampung Buangkok goalkeeper and club’s spokesperson Kenneth Kwang Wai Kit said, “Our journey from a small local team to competing on an international stage is a testament to our passion and dedication to the sport.”

He added, “We are excited and honoured to be the first Singaporean team to compete both in the Brunei Futsal League and overseas league.”

Established in 2020 by a close-knit group of friends, the team had regular meetings to play five-side football on an artificial pitch located within the neighbourhood of Kampung Buangkok.

The team believe that success in the Brunei Futsal League will draw attention in the Singaporean futsal community leading to participation of more teams. – Fadhil Yunus
