SINGAPORE (XINHUA) – Retail sales in Singapore decreased 1.2 per cent year-on-year in April, compared to a 2.8 per cent growth in March, according to data released by the Department of Statistics yesterday.
The motor vehicle sales grew 25 per cent in April from a year earlier and grew 6.4 per cent month-on-month.
Excluding motor vehicles, retail sales fell 4.5 per cent. Wearing apparel and footwear sales recorded a year-on-year decline of 16.2 per cent.
The estimated retail sales value in April was SGD3.9 billion (USD2.9 billion), including 11.8 per cent from the online market.
