ANN/THE STRAITS TIMES – A popular brand of durian mooncakes found to have bacteria levels that exceed Singapore food safety rules is being recalled.
All batches of Four Seasons Durian’s mini D24 durian mooncake are affected, the Singapore Food Agency (SFA) said in a statement on September 12. The bacillus cereus bacteria detected in the mooncakes are usually found in the environment and the intestinal tracts of insects and mammals.
It is a common cause of food poisoning and people who are affected can experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps and diarrhoea, the statement added.
Customers who have bought the mooncakes should not consume them, and anyone who has eaten the mooncakes and have concerns about their health should seek medical advice, it added.
