Singapore club to join Brunei Futsal League next year

Singapore-based futsal club Kampung Buangkok FC have been confirmed as one of the participating clubs in the upcoming Brunei Futsal League 2024 season.

Kampung Buangkok, established in 2020, have consistently won trophies in their domestic scene organised by private clubs in Singapore. In the meantime, Kampung Buangkok will visit the Sultanate to play in friendly matches against the best two teams in the Brunei Futsal League (BFL) 2023.

Kampung Buangkok will meet BFL leaders Kasuka Ar Rawda on September 9 before facing off against Almerez FC a day later.

Both matches will be held at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex at 8pm.

Deputy Chairman of the Football Association of Brunei Darussalam (FABD) Standing Committee (Futsal and Beach Soccer) Rosdin bin Haji Abdul Aziz said that the friendly matches serve as a perfect platform to strengthen the relationship between FABD and the Football Association of Singapore (FAS), specifically in developing the quality of futsal in both countries.

He said, “We are delighted to welcome the arrival of Kampung Buangkok FC. This will provide a good opportunity for all players to showcase their potential, in addition to being a field to gather and share experiences.”

The deputy chairman also welcomed the public to provide their support and help instil the spirits of the players in both matches though entry of supporters are limited.

The meeting is expected to excite fans especially with the appearance of Indonesian futsal star Bambang Bayu Saptaji, who is a national player and formerly of Pendekar United.

The Football Association of Singapore at this point has not organised any competition or futsal league in their country. – Fadhil Yunus
