The Brunei Masters men’s softball team bagged silver in the Asia Softball Masters Championship 2024 following a 5-0 defeat to Kobra Masters from Indonesia in the final at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport Field in Kuantan, Pahang, Malaysia recently.
In the men’s event, the Hong Kong Masters won bronze while MY Masters from Malaysia settled for fourth.
Meanwhile, the Brunei Ladies team failed to advance to the Grand Final match as a 7-7 tie with Singapore was not enough to secure progress and they went out by virtue of technical qualifications of runs difference.
The Ladies team eventually finished in fourth place after they lost 9-2 to Angels from Thailand who took the bronze.
Indonesia’s Kobra Ladies struck gold while SG Queens from Singapore claimed silver.
During the prize presentation gala dinner, Lulu Ammarah Maganda from the Brunei Ladies team received the Best Fielder Award while Anthony Atienza Olaez from Brunei Masters was awarded the Best Pitcher Award. – Fadhil Yunus
