The National Association for the Hearing-Impaired (OKP) organised a sign language class on Sunday to enhance communication among those with hearing impairments and the public.
The class, held at OKP’s headquarter in Kampong Anggerek Desa, was attended by OKP President Pengiran Haji Norahalim bin Pengiran Haji Abdul Rahman. The class was held in conjunction with the International Week of Deaf People and International Day of Sign Languages, which is marked every fourth week in September. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Sign Up for Sign Language Rights’.
The class aimed to boost cooperation in social and economic areas and to promote sign language diversity. – Rokiah Mahmud
