Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (Yayasan) held a launch ceremony for Yayasan Bakarih Day at the Yayasan Complex in Bandar Seri Begawan yesterday.
Minister of Health Dato Seri Setia Dr Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, as the Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yayasan, was the guest of honour.
Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, as the Director and Chairman of the Committee for Research on Yayasan Aid, was also present.
The event serves as a business platform to showcase products by Yayasan Bakarih entrepreneurs, individuals who have benefited from the foundation’s capital assistance for business under the Yayasan Welfare Financing Scheme.
Some 20 Yayasan Bakarih entrepreneurs participated in the sales activities.
The initiative aims to provide a strategic space to support local entrepreneurs in strengthening their business portfolios and expanding their product marketing networks.
The objective aligns with a strategic goal of Yayasan, which is to support self-sufficiency by helping to elevate target groups through entrepreneurial programmes, enabling them to become self-reliant, enhance their potential, and improve their family’s quality of life.
This year’s Yayasan Bakarih Day coincides with the National Family Day celebration themed ‘My Family, My Hope,’ focusing on Brunei’s core family values: love and caring; responsibility, respect, and compassion (one hope).
One of the highlights of Yayasan Bakarih Day is the entrepreneurship clinic, providing the public, especially entrepreneurs and business owners, information and guidance on entrepreneurship and business direction.
Participating agencies providing free services in the clinic include LiveWIRE Brunei, Darussalam Enterprise (DARe), BIBD 360, Youth Development Centre (PPB), and Institute of Brunei Technical Education (IBTE). In addition to sales activities and the entrepreneurship clinic, other activities available are a fun fair, e-games, blood donation campaign, archery and colouring contests.
Part of the proceeds from the activities during Yayasan Bakarih Day is contributed to the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA PMMAB) in conjunction with the 25th anniversary celebration of the establishment of the Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA PMMAB).
Yayasan Bakarih Day continues until December 31 and is open to the public from 10am to 9pm. – Adib Noor
