The Belait District put on a special showcase depicting the harmony between the monarch and his people during the get-together ceremony for His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan’s 77th birthday celebration.
Chairman of the Belait District Special Performance Radiman bin Haji Idris said the theme for the showcase was ‘Raja Berdaulat, Berjiwa Rakyat’ and had 377 performers. “Brunei greatly admires His Majesty who embodies the spirit of the people and cares for their well-being. This special performance embodies this same spirit and sought to depict it through contemporary dance and performances,” he said.
The first segment comprised martial arts and formations symbolising the people’s respect for the monarch, he said.
The second segment showcased the unity of the people, depicting the seven puak of Belait while expressing national achievements and developments through contemporary dance routines.
The final segment showcased the youth and their dedication to achieving Brunei Vision 2035. – Daniel Lim
