The Diplomatic Corps representing ASEAN member states along with Japan and Timor-Leste embassies in Brunei Darussalam worked together to host the ASEAN-Japan Food Fair to showcase the countries’ unique cuisines.
Organised in conjunction with the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan Friendship and Cooperation, the event was held at the premises of the Philippines Embassy in Brunei Darussalam at the Diplomatic Enclave in Jalan Kebangsaan last night.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Hajah Johariah binti Haji Abdul Wahab was the guest of honour, who along with her spouse, were welcomed by Japanese Ambassador Maeda Toru, Thai Ambassador Boosara Kanchanalai and Philippine Ambassador Marian Jocelyn R Tirol-Ignacio.
The event began with the presentation of a memento to the guest of honour by the Japanese ambassador followed by a group photo session.
Guests were ushered to the food display tables accompanied by the ASEAN Heads of Missions, Japanese ambassador and Timor-Leste ambassador.
The reception also showcased dance performances featuring Filipino and Indonesian dances and a performance by Ade Irawan, a visually-impaired pianist dubbed Indonesia’s Stevie Wonder. – Lyna Mohamad
