High Commissioner of India to Brunei Darussalam Ajaneesh Kumar advised leaders of Indian organisations to continue showing good examples and qualities that reflect who they are as true Indians.
“In life, we learn the values of compassion, and for this we must acknowledge the role that has been showcased by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam,” he said at a farewell lunch hosted by YMRM Group and Brunei Darussalam Indian Community at Function Hall of 1187 Residence, Kiarong yesterday.
The Indian High Commissioner continued, “For us, the Indian community living and working in the Sultanate, we recognise that we are in the land of a benevolent ruler, a monarch who understands and guides the government towards the benefit of his people. Compassion is something that we can learn from the monarch and the country.”
Meanwhile, YMRM Group Chairman Ramesh Jiwatram Bhawnani expressed gratitude and appreciation to the Indian High Commissioner for his efforts and good deeds during his tenureship in the Sultanate.
The tireless efforts, he added, especially in addressing problems encountered by the Indian nationals residing in Brunei without looking at their social status, have greatly impacted the Indian community, especially those affected by the COVID-19 outbreak not only in the Sultanate but also in India.
The chairman also commended the high commissioner’s role in strengthening bilateral relations between both countries, while also looking after and contributing to the well-being of the Indian nationals in various capacity.
The ceremony also saw several speeches, the presentation of a memento by YMRM Group Director Hitesh R Bhawnani, and a shawl presentation by Indian organisations and community in the Sultanate to the high commissioner.
