The Sultan Haji Omar Ali Saifuddien (SHOAS) Bridge and the Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre (PJSC) building were lit up to commemorate World Cancer Day this year.
SHOAS Bridge is lit in blue and orange where to shows support in the fight against cancer, alongside the world towards making a bold statement and show of commitment towards cancer prevention and early detection.
As a member of the Union of International Cancer Control (UICC), PJSC continues to push for the awareness and action to fight cancer.
Among the activities to commemorate World Cancer Day this year is the World Cancer Day Weekend, a gathering with key stakeholders, cancer survivors, family members and the public at Taman Haji Sir Omar Ali Saifuddien in the capital.
The UICC launched a three-year theme, from 2022 to 2024, called ‘CLOSE THE CARE GAP’ to rally the world under a united front.
The theme’s first year placed emphasis on recognising inequities in cancer care by understanding the perspectives of cancer patients and allowing those experiences to guide action.
This year, PJSC moves towards amplifying their voices and taking necessary action, with many more initiatives that could be taken and unified under one voice.
World Cancer Day is celebrated every February 4.
