The Safety, Health and Environment National Authority (SHENA) recently held a tree planting activity as part of the nationwide reforestation effort to support Strategy 2 of the Brunei Darussalam National Climate Change Policy (BNCCP) and the Ministry of Energy’s Green Protocol initiatives.
The event was held at Sungai Berakas Park along the Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah Highway on March 31.
SHENA’s management and employees planted tabebuia rosea saplings.
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Energy Haji Azhar bin Haji Yahya as Interim Chief Executive Officer of SHENA led the tree planting.
The BNCCP Strategy 2 on Forest Cover calls for a concerted effort to increase the Sultanate’s carbon sink through afforestation and reforestation. It also outlines a national target of planting 500,000 new trees by 2035.
