Some 100 underprivileged families received care packages, as part of the fifth Ramadhan Charity Drive (RCD), organised by Unified National Networks Sdn Bhd (UNN).
The drive distributed care packages to families in Kampong Menunggol on March 30, and continued across Brunei-Muara, Tutong and Belait districts on March 31, April 6 and 7.
UNN RCD was formed under the company’s corporate social responsibility programme to provide monetary and in-kind assistance to local communities in need, with hopes to ease the financial burden of these families as they prepare for the last few days of Ramadhan and upcoming Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
According to UNN, this year’s RCD presented its first collaboration with the Brunei Council on Social Welfare (MKM) as previous events saw collaborations with Society for Community Outreach and Training (SCOT), Pengiran Muda Mahkota Al-Muhtadee Billah Fund for Orphans (DANA) and Foodlife.
Some 100 volunteers from UNN, joined by MKM President Mohamed Yusof bin Shaik Abdul Halim, MKM former president Datin Paduka Hajah Intan binti Haji Mohd Kassim, MKM Vice President Hajah Johana binti Haji Jaya and MKM office-bearers participated in the packing and distribution of care packages. – James Kon
Brunei-Muara District Office
Some 20 underprivileged individuals and orphans yesterday received donations from the Brunei-Muara District Office as part of its Lakastah Berinfaq programme, held in conjunction with the holy month of Ramadhan.
Acting Brunei-Muara District Officer Pengiran Muhammad Ameer Mubaarak bin Pengiran Haji Hashim visited the homes of the recipients to hand over the donations.
The inaugural programme, organised by the Brunei-Muara District Office and coordinated by its Licensing and Enforcement Division, carried the theme ‘Kami Ingau Dan Peduli’.
In addition, the programme aimed to foster closer ties with recipients and officers of the Brunei-Muara District Office. – James Kon
Pekan Kuala Belait
Nine orphans from Pekan Kuala Belait were given donations in the form of food necessities to help lessen their burden ahead of the Hari Raya celebrations.
The event, organised by Pekan Kuala Belait Village Consultative Council, was held at Pekan Kuala Belait ‘B’ Acting Village Head Mohammad Sufrizal bin Haji Hamdan’s residence of on Sunday. – Daniel Lim
RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau
The Village Consultative Council (MPK) and Bureau of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Zone 4 presented essential items to some 32 single mothers and five families of RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Zone 4 on Sunday.
The donation, part of its Santunan Kasih Ramadhan Berserumpun programme, commenced with the recitation of Surah Al-Fatihah and Doa Selamat, led by chairman of the ceremony.
It was followed by a distribution of goods to recipients living on Jalan Bukit Bintagur,
Jalan Bukit Sinadur and Jalan Sungai Cerana.
RPN Kampong Panchor Mengkubau Zone 4 Village Head Faidil Rosemady bin Mohammad also participated in the programme. – Adib Noor
