(ANN/KOREA HERALD) — In a triumphant sweep, K-pop powerhouse Seventeen claimed the coveted Album of the Year at the 38th Golden Disc Awards for their 10th EP, “FML.”
The ceremony unfolded at Jakarta International Stadium in Indonesia, marking a significant milestone for the boy band.
During their acceptance speech, Mingyu expressed gratitude for the collective effort of the hardworking members, acknowledging the continuous growth showcased annually at the Golden Disc Awards.
The night’s big winners, Seventeen, not only secured Album of the Year but also clinched Best Digital Song, with their subunit BSS triumphing in the same category.
The group’s stellar performance of “Super,” “Ima-Even if the world ends tomorrow,” and “God of Music” brought the awards ceremony to a spectacular close. Notably, Seventeen unveiled the Korean version of their Japanese single, “Ima-Even if the world ends tomorrow,” for the first time on stage, adding a layer of excitement for fans.
In a parallel triumph, emerging K-pop girl group NewJeans secured Song of the Year and Best Digital Song for their mega-hit “Ditto.” Danielle, a member of NewJeans, expressed gratitude for the group’s astonishing 2023 and shared anticipation for their journey in 2024.
Hyein kicked off NewJeans’ performance with a captivating solo act of “Cool With You,” setting the stage for an electrifying group performance of their chart-topping track, “Ditto.”
Recognising outstanding debut achievements, Zerobaseone and Fifty Fifty claimed the prestigious Rookie Artist Award, further adding to the night’s celebration of musical excellence.
