Captain Sabirin, in his welcoming remarks congratulated the successful cadet pilots by sharing, “This is RB’s first cadet pilot programme since the COVID-19 pandemic and hopefully, this will continue in the years to come as the demand for pilots will continue to be fulfilled. We hope they will enjoy their pilot training, work hard and come back to Brunei with flying colours to be part of RB’s family.”
He added, “We trust you will develop an incredible and exciting career with RB. Be proud of yourself as you will be a part of the national carrier to connect our skies with all the destinations you will be flying to in the future. Embrace this responsibility with pride, dedication, and honour and let us work together to achieve even greater things for our national airline.”
RB’s cadet pilot programme began in 1980 with two cadets – Sebastian Newn and Jaidin Timbang – who received their captaincy in 1990.
Currently, RB boasts 122 pilots, 94 per cent of them local, and 57 are local captains.
The new cadets will soon commence their training under a fully certified and accredited flying school in Europe. – James Kon
