Set up special committee to oversee food quality

With the National Day celebrations just around the corner, a portion of students and public servants will be joining the momentum occasion waving flags or performing on the field. In light of the recent controversy, perhaps the authorities could consider setting up a specific committee to govern the quality of packaged meals and drinks that will be distributed to these participants.

It is crucial that food vendors are selected based on their reputation and knowledge on how food should be stored to retain its freshness. Thus, having a committee tasked to oversee food quality would limit potential issues that could arise.

There are a lot of things that could go wrong, from the transportation of packaged meals from the food preparation facility to the venue and the distribution of the food to the recipients. All parties involved need to be briefed on their respective responsibilities and that if things went south, they would be held accountable. This extends to teachers assigned to oversee the food distribution as they are the last line of defence against stale food.
