A local woman was sentenced to six years and three months’ jail on Wednesday following a guilty plea on multiple charges of theft-related offences.
Mardiah binti Awang Anak, 33, had initially denied the charges but had a change of heart, admitting to breaking into a number of homes in Jalan Muara, Jalan Pasir Berakas and Kampong Meragang, stealing electronics, household electrical appliances, safe boxes, jewellery and food items, according to the prosecutors.
Intermediate Court Judge Harnita Zelda Skinner heard that the defendant did not work alone, but her accomplices had already been dealt with by the courts.
The recovered stolen items were valued at just under BND9,000. – Fadley Faisal
