Seria Dortmund exceeded expectations by beating BSRC Vipers in the finals of the Belait U12 5×5 Football League at Mumong Sports Complex yesterday.
Ten teams from across the Belait District, comprising both local as well as expatriates, competed across the two groups in the football league.
The teams included Panaga Hawks, BFB Seria, BSRC Dragon, BSRC Vipers, and PBDB B in Group A; while PBDB A, BSRC Eagle, Panaga Eagles, Seria Dortmund, and Muhammad Alam FC in Group B.
The teams competed against each other in 10-minute matches in their groups, with the top two teams from each group advancing to the semifinals.
This included BSRC Vipers and BFB Seria being the first and second teams from Group A, while Group B saw Seria Dortmund and Panaga Eagles placing first and second.

In the semifinals, BSRC Vipers won their match against Panaga Eagles, while Seria Dortmund won their match against BFB Seria. This resulted in Panaga Eagles going up against BFB Seria in vying for third place in the league, won by BFB Seria.
Seria Dortmund went up against BSRC Vipers in the finals. As both teams put up a strong offence, it was Seria Dortmund who netted two goals as they secured their victory as the champion against BSRC Vipers.
Seria Dortmund head coach Adam Tomlin explained that the team was formed recently with young and talented players from the Seria community and he scouted them out to compete in the Belait U12 Football League.
“We had a couple of training sessions, but we really did not expect to have such success and I think it’s a great moral booster for our team to.”
Adam also hoped that the teams will continue to participate in similar leagues and tournaments to hone their skills and talents. “We’d love to be involved in more competitions in supporting the Belait District Football Association (PBDB) and Football Association of Brunei Darussalam’s (FABD) effort to help develop the sport of football in the Sultanate. While we might not be from Brunei, we are invested in the nation, and it is a pleasure to be a part of the efforts and initiative to help further support the sport in the nation.”
FABD Head of Grassroots Development Haji Rozaimienizam bin Haji Jainal accompanied by PBDB Deputy Chairman Morni bin Haji Zakaria presented prizes to the four teams that advanced to the semifinals, including associated trophies and medals handed to players and coaches of the winning teams.
