As we usher in the new month, Netflix is gearing up to bring yet another month filled with exciting original content. September 2023 promises to be a treat for all types of viewers, with a diverse range of movies and series set to premier on the streaming giant.

In this article, we’ll take a sneak peek at some of the most anticipated Netflix Originals that you won’t want to miss!

 

LOVE AT FIRST SIGHT (RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 15)

This romance movie is adapted from the Jennifer E Smith novel The Statistical Probability of Love at First Sight, directed by Vanessa Caswill and stars Haley Lu Richardson, Ben Hardy, Jameela Jamil and Rob Delaney.

On their flight from New York to London, Hadley and Oliver, two strangers, find themselves gradually drawn to each other. But as they touch down, an unexpected twist of events separates them. Is it just a stroke of bad luck, or could it be destiny at play?

The chances of them crossing paths once more appear slim, yet love, and perhaps the enchanting city of London itself, might possess the power to defy the most improbable odds.

 

A DAY AND A HALF (RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 1)

Desperate to reunite with his estranged daughter, a man resorts to extreme measures, holding his ex-wife hostage.

This action sets the stage for a gripping, emotionally charged road trip, where an unexpected companion, a police officer, joins them.

Their journey unfolds across the picturesque Swedish countryside during a scorching summer, all while law enforcement relentlessly pursues them.

In Fares Fares’ directorial debut, he shares the screen with a talented ensemble cast that includes Alexej Manvelov, Alma Pöysti, Stina Ekblad, Bengt CW Carlsson, Annica Liljeblad, Annika Hallin, and Johni Tadi.

 

IS SHE THE WOLF? (SEASON 1) (RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 3)

While the series was made available on a weekly basis in Japan throughout the summer, the global audience can look forward to enjoying the entire season in early September.

This Japanese reality television series sees five men and five women, all in pursuit of love, are brought together in close quarters and assigned group tasks.

These challenges aim to help them get acquainted and, with any luck, ignite the flames of a passionate and all-consuming romance.

 

DEAR CHILD (LIMITED SERIES) (RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 7)

This new German limited series, produced by Constantin Television, is described as a psychological thriller and is adapted from the novel by Romy Hausmann.

Lena, along with her children Hannah and Jonathan, resides in a heavily fortified dwelling, entirely cut off from the outside world.

Their daily routines, including meals, bathroom breaks, and bedtime, are meticulously regulated.

When a certain individual enters the room, they promptly line up and extend their hands, obediently following his every command. However, Lena eventually finds a way to break free. Following a serious car accident that leaves her with severe injuries, she is rushed to the hospital, by her daughter Hannah.

 

GAMERA -REBIRTH- (RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 7)

In this fresh Japanese animated series, Gamera, the colossal monster adored by Kaiju enthusiasts worldwide since the 1960s, engages in epic battles against five adversary creatures throughout six thrilling episodes. Leading the voice cast are Hisako Kanemoto, Mamoru Miyano, Yoshitsugu Matsuoka, Saori Hayami, and Subaru Kimura.

 

BURNING BODY (RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 8)

Starring Úrsula Corberó and Quim Gutierrez, this Spanish crime thriller miniseries commences with the discovery of a police officer’s remains inside a charred vehicle in Barcelona.

Taking place in 2017, the storyline is a dramatisation inspired by the actual Crime of the Guàrdia Urbana.

The narrative delves into a web of tumultuous relationships, infidelity, violence, and scandals involving the deceased, Pedro, a police officer, and two of his fellow agents, Rosa and Albert.

 

ONCE UPON A CRIME (RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 14)

Featuring Kanna Hashimoto in the lead role, this fresh Japanese live-action series is an adaptation of Aito Aoyagi’s book, which includes numerous well-known characters from timeless fairy tales.

 Join Little Red Riding Hood on her quest to apprehend wrongdoers who carry out crimes within beloved fairy tales.

 This series has garnered acclaim for its intricate and captivating mystery-solving twists and turns.

 

OVERHAUL / CARGA MÁXIMA (RELEASE DATE: SEPTEMBER 27)

Titled as Netflix’s inaugural major Brazilian action film, this movie revolves around Roger, a truck racing driver, who finds himself reluctantly driving for a gang involved in cargo heists to protect his team.

As he becomes entangled in a life of crime, he faces an arduous battle to extricate himself.
