The TAIB Open Sepak Takraw Super League (LSST) 2024 continued with the group stage matches in the first round at the Tutong Sports Complex Multi-Purpose Hall yesterday.
Legislative Council member Yang Berhormat Abdul Aziz bin Haji Hamdan as the Village Head of Sengkarai, Tutong District; Mukim Telisai Penghulu Haji Haslan bin Haji Shahbuddin; Village Head of Kampong Keriam Haji Bahrin bin Haji Bolhassan; and Village Head of Pekan Tutong Awang Zambri bin Haji Ibrahim were present at the event.
A total of 10 matches were contested involving teams from Group ‘A’ and Group ‘B for the team open category.
Four teams booked their spot in the quarter-finals which are scheduled on November 22 with MS ABDB ‘B’ taking on 7 Brothers and Muara Spurs ‘B’ meeting Sengkurong in the last eight.
Meanwhile, matches in Group ‘C’ and Group ‘D’ will take place at the Tutong Sports Complex this Sunday and at the Sungai Kebun Sports Complex on November 17. The closing ceremony and prize presentation will be held on November 24 at the Indoor Stadium, Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas.
The second edition of the LSST is organised by the Brunei Darussalam Sepak Takraw Association (PESTABARU) with the cooperation of the Youth and Sports Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and Perbadanan Tabung Amanah Islam Brunei as the league’s main sponsor.
Members of the public interested in watching the matches as well as the closing ceremony and prize presentation are welcome. Entry is free. – Fadhil Yunus
