The Tutong District Senior Citizens Activity Centre (PKWE) organised a Sunnat Hajat prayers and Surah Yaasiin and Doa recitation ceremony to begin the centre’s 2023 activities and programmes at its premises yesterday.
Acting Tutong District Officer Mohd Sofian bin Haji Basir was guest of honour.
The Sunnat Hajat prayers were led by PKWE Tutong Manager Haji Hamaffi bin Md Yassin who also led the Doa recitation. A Doa Umrah was also recited for members who will perform the Umrah soon.
Haji Hamaffi said the ceremony also aimed to unite PKWE members in thought and action towards developing the centre based on Malay Islamic Monarchy (MIB) ideals.
The event also provided a deeper understanding of PKWE as a platform to plan and carry out activities and programmes suitable for senior citizens, as well as strengthen the relations among its members.
Programmes implemented at the centre include religious activities such as talks and tazkirah, classes to study and refine Al-Quran recitation, and Dikir Syarafil Annam classes. The centre also holds life-long learning programmes and vocational training, such as sewing, handicrafts, cooking, interior decoration, introduction to information and communication technology, and health, social, recreational and entrepreneurship programmes.
