The Mosque Affairs Department is tasked to establishing the mosque as the focal point for administration, maintenance and glorification for religious activities such as Munajat, said Acting Director of the Mosque Affairs Haji Amir Hisham bin Haji Masri during the Knowledge Convention Seminar at the International Convention Centre (ICC), Berakas.
He said this during his presentation on the role of the department in supporting the nationwide practice of Munajat, as well as the role and functions of mosques yesterday.
The seminar focusing on ‘Government Policies in Supporting the Practice of Munajat and Its Relation to Repentance’, was organised by the Prime Minister’s Office in collaboration with Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA).
Minister of Culture Youth and Sports Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad attended along with UNISSA Rector Dr Haji Norarfan bin Haji Zainal.
Several papers were presented by invited speakers including Acting Director of the Islamic Da’wah Centre Haji Ahmad Abdussalam bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Acting Director of the Mosque Affairs Haji Amir Hisham and Acting Director of the Islamic Studies Department Hajah Mariana binti Haji Jamil.
Haji Ahmad Abdussalam spoke of the role of the Islamic Da’wah centre in supporting the practise of munajat in line with the vision and mission of the centre. Hajah Mariana highlighted the contributions of religious education in supporting the practise of Munajat by providing students with lessons and guidance. – Rokiah Mahmud
