PUJA Academy and Ready-Mix Concrete Brunei jointly held a seminar on ‘Advances In Concrete Technology’ recently.
The seminar, conducted by, Ready-Mix Malaysia’s R&D and Quality Head Ts Dr Balamohan Balakirshnan, was carried out to promote awareness on concrete technology and knowledge sharing on “why concrete fails”.
The speaker highlighted that certain practices and the wrong selection of materials can result in premature failure of concrete. Other factors include aggressive environment such as marine environment, mishandling of the materials; as well as transportation and batching methods which could contribute to failure of concrete.
To avoid or prevent such failures, Dr Balakrishnan shared some good practices to ensure good concrete quality to help concrete perform better and maintain its strength and quality in the life of the assets.
The seminar concluded with Dr Balakirshnan sharing on the advancement in concrete technology and the projects where a variety of concretes have been used on projects.
