The second returning flight of the Malaysian Battalion (MALBATT) 850-11 contingent for the peacekeeping mission of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) comprising 206 members of the MALBATT 850-11 including eight members of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF) safely arrived at Subang Airbase, Malaysia on November 12.
Lieutenant General Dato’ Zahani bin Haji Zainal Abidin Royal Malaysian Air Force (RMAF), Joint Force Commander, Malaysian Armed Forces (JFC MAF) welcomed their return.
Brunei Darusslam’s Defence Adviser to Malaysia Lieutenant Colonel Rudie Asmawi bin Haji Abidin, senior officers from MAF and family members of the MALBATT 850-11 were also present.
A parade ceremony began as they landed, starting with a general salute from the contingent, followed by the MAF song and a speech from JFC MAF. The ceremony ended with the chant, ‘Gempur Wira’. The third and fourth flight of MALBATT 850-11 contingent is scheduled to depart from Lebanon to Malaysia tomorrow and November 19. The members will be stationed at MALBATT Village, Port Dickson until all members of MALBATT 850-11 return to Malaysia.
