SEA Games athletes, coaches receive incentive

National wushu and pencak silat athletes who won medals in the 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam recently received recognition for their successes at the Sports Excellence Incentive Scheme presentation ceremony at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium in Berakas yesterday.

Gold medalist in men’s nanquan Mohammad Adi Salihin bin Roslan received BND10,000 while Coach Li Hui and Assistant Coach Ang Lu Guan received BND2,000 and BND1,000.

Brunei Darussalam Wushu Federation received BND2,000 for their efforts in grooming national athletes.

For pencak silat athletes, silver medal in the men’s tunggal Md Ali Saifullah Abdullah bin Haji Md Suhaimi received BND4,000 while the female regu team comprising Anisah Najihah binti Abdullah, Norleyermah binti Haji Raya and Nur Wasiqah Aziemah binti Rosihan each received BND3,000 for bringing home a silver medal.

National silat coach Haji Muhd Khairul Bahrin bin Haji Durahman received BND2,500 while the Brunei Darussalam National Pencak Silat Association received BND2,600.

Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad presented the incentives.

Mohammad Adi Salihin in an interview said, “The Sports Excellence Incentive Scheme motivated me to work harder to succeed in competitions. I am looking forward to the Asian Games and the next SEA Games.”

Md Ali Saifullah Abdullah said, “Alhamdulillah, this is the first time I received the incentive. I will work hard and do my best as well as improve in the upcoming competitions in the name of Brunei.”
