Scouts feted in ceremony

The Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif Ali (UNISSA) Rover Scout Crew 1102, formed on August 7, 2019, held World Scout membership badge investiture ceremony, installation of Scout Scarves and Rover Scout epaulets in a special ceremony for 13 new Rover Scout members of the 3rd intake for 2021.

Director of Centre for Promotion of Knowledge and Language (CPKL) UNISSA Dr Sufri bin Haji Sudin attended as the guest of honour.

The World Scout membership badge is a test that is compulsory for new scout members. The needs in the test are included under the policy, organisation and rules (POR) of the Brunei Darussalam Scouts Association.

The new Rover Scout members must undergo tests, continuous training and scout’s knowledge from Rover Scout leaders and scout trainers skilled in the field of Rover scouting.

New members of UNISSA Rover Scout under the leadership of UNISSA lecturer UNISSA 1102 Rover Scout Leader Dr Muhammad Alif bin Haji Sismat underwent 15 weeks of leadership course before earning the World Scout membership badge.

The new members were also given challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic and the weekly meetings carried out virtually.

The presentation of the World membership badge was handed over by Brunei-Muara District Scout Commissioner Samsuddin bin Haji Ahmad, while the installation of Scout’s Scarves was by Dr Sufri and the Rover Scout epaulet by Dr Muhammad Alif to the male Rover Scout members and by UNISSA lecturer and UNISSA 1102 Rover Scout Assistant Leader Dr Siri Nur Idayu binti Haji Matusin for the female scout members.

The ceremony followed with the installation of scarves and Messenger of Peace badge to Rover Scout members by Haji Othman bin Durani.

Meanwhile, certificates to mark the completion of Scout Co-curriculum for the Rover Scout members of UNISSA 1102 second intake (2020-2021); general information course, Sekapur Sireh course conducted at the Brunei Darussalam Outward Bound and Basic Day Camp were presented by Dr Sufri.
