A scout leader must have high discipline and be exemplary to all scout members whether in the Sultanate or abroad.
This was said by Tutong District Scouts Association (PPDT) Scout Commissioner Skip Haji Mohd Sufian bin Haji Abdul Karim at an event marking the World Bureau Badges ceremony for PPDT Scouts Leaders and Adult in Scouting (AIS PPDT) members at the Tutong District Youth Centre yesterday.
Skip Haji Mohd Sufian was the guest of honour along with Chung Hwa School Kiudang Principal Loo Shee Yun as the Team 2031 Chairperson and Head of Tutong Youth and Sports Department Head Kamil bin Lamat.
Skip Haji Mohd Sufian congratulated the World Bureau Badge recipients and hoped this will not be the end of their involvement in the scouts. He urged them to be exemplary members contributing to the next generation through an evaluation system based on the Brunei Darussalam scouts law, as well as an example to the community that scout members can play a beneficial role for the youth.
The scout commissioner also reminded scout members not to forget the loyalty pledge and scout law, which says a scout is trustworthy, obedient, friendly and considerate, a brother to all scouts, brave in facing difficult situations, make good use of time, cautious on property, and respectful of themselves and others.
The ceremony concluded with the loyalty activity and presentation of badges and scarves by Skip Haji Mohd Sufian and Loo Shee Yun.
A total of 16 scout members received the World Bureau Badges, comprising four scout leaders from Chung Hwa School Kiudang 2031, five scout leaders from Chung Hwa School Tutong 2030, a member of the Open Scouts Team Tutong 2001 and six members of AIS PPDT.
