Some 56 students and staff from Kampong Menengah Religious School in Lamunin joined a fire safety and building evacuation briefing on February 16 organised by the Fire and Rescue Department’s (FRD) Public Relations Unit of Operation ‘E’ Branch.

The briefing aimed at raising awareness on the dangers of fire.

Building evacuation training should be done twice a year, according to the FRD.

Meanwhile, 22 participants from Kolej International Graduate Studies received certifications on February 15 after a three-day fire marshal training.

The training was conducted by a station officer from FRD headquarters in Berakas.

The participants were briefed on the causes of fire, proper use of firefighting equipment, procedures to evacuating a building and prevention of fire as well as steps to take during a fire.

They were also shown the use of fire extinguishers and fire blankets.
