Fifteen Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) scholars under the Joint Scholarship Programme between Hengyi Industries Sdn Bhd, UBD and Zhejiang University (ZJU), departed for Hangzhou, China, to continue their academic journey at Zhejiang University.
The scholars, currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Chemical and Process Engineering, were officially awarded the scholarship on February 6, making them the 12th batch of recipients under the programme. They will undertake 1.5 years of fully funded studies at ZJU.
Upon completing their studies in China, the scholars will return to the Sultanate to complete their final academic year at UBD before undertaking a six-month internship with Hengyi Industries.
Graduates of the programme will also have the opportunity for full-time employment with Hengyi Industries.
Scholar Mohammad Azeerul Faizz said, “I am excited to continue my studies at ZJU. It’s a great chance for me to learn from industry experts, work with advanced technologies, and gain hands-on experience in an innovative environment. I’m also looking forward to experiencing the Chinese culture firsthand and building meaningful connections with students and professionals there. The experience will help me grow both in my future career and as a person.”
Another scholar Amni Syazwani said, “Alhamdulillah, getting into ZJU is an incredible opportunity. I am thrilled and excited to explore the campus, work with talented peers, and learn from experienced lecturers.”
Meanwhile, Goh Jia Sheng said, “I look forward to engaging in a lively academic environment, participating in research, and gaining a global perspective. This opportunity will also allow me to experience Hangzhou’s rich culture through interactions with diverse scholars and help me develop into a well-rounded individual.”
